Why did Lottoland choose Nazareth Care Africa as a project to support.

Nazareth Care Africa is a non-profit, charitable organisation, which has served the communities in Southern Africa for more than 135 years. The Sisters of Nazareth have opened their doors to the poorest of the poor in caring for the sick, destitute, and vulnerable elderly and children.

Our interventions are both programmatic and systematic in nature as it allows our beneficiaries to live healthy and contributing lives, regardless of their circumstances. Through our interventions, we have prevented these forgotten groups of children and elderly from experiencing further abandonment, abuse, and ridicule by creating homely, safe environments.  Nazareth Care Africa currently has 8 Elderly Care Homes, 2 Child and Youth Care Centres and 9 outreach projects in Africa.

We, Nazareth Care, aim to share the love of God through our ministries of care and education and our openness to respond to the needs of the times. Our Child and Youth Care Centres create a safe environment where the children are loved, cared for, nurtured, and educated, allowing every child in our care to live fulfilling and productive lives. A harsh reality is that many senior citizens are left unattended and without any social interaction leading to depression and other illnesses. Nazareth Care opens their doors to care for these aged residents through a person-centred care approach that encompasses the standard of health, comfort, and happiness for each resident.

The Sisters of Nazareth are unremittingly involved in outreach programmes and community work projects across the country, including Harare, Zimbabwe. Some of these outreaches and community work projects require the Sisters to visit remote locations and provide support, care, and necessities to those who need it most. These initiatives include food and soup kitchens in Schauderville – Gqeberha, outreach to poor and needy in Alexandra, Yeoville and Soweto in – Johannesburg, support to night shelters, soup kitchens and the Masigcine Children’s home in Khayelitsha – Cape Town, home-based care and women self-help centre at Frances Shannon Hospice in Warrenton – Kimberly, and the Morning Star creche with 60 under privileged children from the surrounding area at Nazareth House Fourteen Streams, and much more.

With the ever-increasing need for support, Nazareth Care wishes to increase its outreach and mission work in the future to aid more communities and needing individuals. With your support, the Sisters of Nazareth can continue to expand their critical welfare work and provide much-needed relief in these poor and impoverished areas. Nazareth Care is wholly reliant on the income of donations, legacies, and ‘goods in kind’ to continue the mission. All donations, grants, and other incomes area a necessity to fulfil the shortfall and to ensure the sustainability and longevity of the organisation. Caring for all the residents in our Nazareth Houses, young and old, as well as the communities we assist via our outreaches, comes at an exponential cost. Donations, bequests, and fundraising are not guaranteed amounts and the challenge to raise funds is becoming continually arduous yet evermore demanding.

You can help to make our ambitions a reality. Your contribution is imperative in providing positive and much-needed care to the most vulnerable in our communities. We take our responsibility as guardians earnestly and have placed much emphasis and concentration on the procurement of donations, effective donor management, pro-active marketing, and enhancing relations with the public, stakeholders, and all donors and benefactors. We have investigated and researched alternative income streams, including the launching of different and new campaigns to help further close the gap between the funding we receive and the funding we need.

We also call on corporate organisations to partner with Nazareth Care and partake in our mission and movement, uplift your brand profile and social responsibility, by committing your investment to our ambitions. A partnership with Nazareth Care holds countless opportunities to align your business goals with ours. Utilising the Nazareth Care network, we can build on your business CSR projects. A relationship forged with Nazareth Care promises to offer value to both parties, ultimately changing the lives of all those we reach together.
